Admission Requirements

As Calwest University is an exempt institution pursuant to Section 94874 (b)(1) of the California Education Code, it only offers educational programs sponsored by ICMA, a bona fide professional organization, solely for that organization's membership.

Graduate Program (MBA):

A student must be above the age of 22 and be:

  • A member of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA) with a minimum of three years of business experience. [Student Members of ICMA are not admitted.]
  • Have an undergraduate degree (or equivalent). If a student does not possess an undergraduate degree, the university will seek suitable evidence such as relevant work experience (minimum 5 years).

Doctoral Program (DBA):

A student must be above the age of 22 and:

  • Be a member of the ICMA with a minimum of five years of business experience. [Student Members of ICMA are not admitted.]
  • Have both an undergraduate degree and a graduate degree in any discipline from an accredited university
  • A short resume detailing at least 2 years of work experience
  • A 3- to 4-page essay titled “My objectives in undertaking Doctoral Research”

English Proficiency Requirements:

TOEFL — 530 (paper) / IBT 71; IELTS — 6.5; PTE — 50; CEFR — B2; ACT Compass — Level 3.

If not already a member, apply for ICMA membership at the ICMA website. You cannot apply via Calwest directly.

Complete the online application form with your academic credentials and ICMA membership details.

Once accepted, access Tubeclasses and begin your coursework at your own pace.

Currently there is no instructor-based tuition provided for online coursework students. The following are the resource and assessment fees:

Do I need to be an ICMA member?

Yes. Calwest programs are exclusively for existing ICMA members. You must obtain ICMA membership before applying.

Can I transfer credits from another institution?
